A regional council on drones may appear under the government.

This should simplify opening the skies for UAVs and allow focusing on local needs.

At the presidium of the governmental commission on the development of unmanned aviation systems (UAS), a regional council on the use of drones at the local level will be established. This follows from a draft government decree sent on March 12 to the cabinet by Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Vasily Shpak. The document provides for amendments to the composition of the presidium of the governmental commission on the development of UAS (in the possession of Vedomosti). Its authenticity was confirmed by one of the representatives of organizations participating in the governmental commission. The update to the commission's composition is being carried out on the instructions of Vice-Premier for Transport Vitaly Savelyev.

The head of the regional council must annually report to other members of the governmental commission on the results of their activities. The composition of the regional council should be determined by the headquarters for the development of UAS, also formed under the presidium of the governmental commission, according to the document. The headquarters is needed to monitor the development of drone production and application, identify key limitations in the industry, develop air transport infrastructure, implement activities in the national project on UAS, and international cooperation. Headquarters meetings are held monthly, and it is headed by the head of the national project on UAS – Minister of Industry and Trade Anton Alikhanov.

General Director of "UAS Glory Air" Alexander Mikheev emphasized that the council will be useful for promoting technologies at the local level in various sectors: agriculture, logistics, forest protection, and other sectors where territorial specifics play a key role.
